Throughout this article, I will be exploring some of Margo Anand's groundbreaking works, The Art of Sexual Magic and The Art of Sexual Ecstasy. Anand teaches people how to manifest their heart’s desires through sexual exploration, that ecstasy is sacred, magical, and a channel for transformation. Anand’s life’s work is expansive. I will introduce her teachings in this article. One does not have to be in a partnership to explore these techniques for life goal actualization, they can be done in the precious intimacy of aloneness.
Anand notes that sex is a magical experience and that magic is a sexual experience. Sexual magic is not about pulling rabbits out of hats or making a rabbit disappear, but “is real magic: the power to make things happen, the art of harnessing personal and transpersonal sources of subtle energy to give shape, form, and substance to your ideas and visions. Most specifically, it is using the power of your sexual energy as a vehicle for your will and imagination, focusing on a personal goal and then transforming your goal into reality by accessing higher states of consciousness” (Anand, 1995:11). The engine for this process is the primal energy of your sexuality and your willingness to accept yourself as having powerful potential through effectively managed orgasms. This power resides inside you, once it is accessed, the orgasmic sexual energy can be passed through all seven energy centers where your juices and vision can merge producing a “profound alchemical transmutation” (Anand, 1995: 13).
There are seven steps for sexual magic:
create and hold a vision for what you want to accomplish;
condense your vision into a powerful symbol;
awaken your orgasmic sexual energy;
empower your symbol with orgasmic sexual energy;
carry your symbol on a wave of sexual energy up through your body, passing through the seven chakras;
release your symbol with orgasmic sexual climax into the universe, connecting with the Astral Network;
allow new creation to be manifest in your life
(Anand, 1995:46).
It is the magician within us that makes this process possible.
Anand (1995) writes that the
“magician is an inventor, creator, adapter, catalyzer. Even when life seems difficult or problematic, the magician can find unorthodox ways to undo the knot and release the pent-up energy. It is just a matter of widening our perspective and trusting our intuitive feelings” (56).
The magician within must be honored and cultivated. It is not going to be brought forth into the world without effort. To be a magician, you have to remove yourself from the swirling social chaos around you that pushes you like a leaf in the wind, and consciously decide to live life deliberately with the intention to manifest what you need and desire. You must have the courage and determination to say:
“From now on, I will be responsible for my life. I take back all the power that I have given away out of a desire to conform, please others, or do the ‘proper’ thing. I no longer delegate my power to parents, to teachers, to priests, to politicians, to opinion polls, or to the media. I take back the power to determine my own future. In particular, I will be responsible for my own love life. I reclaim the power to honor my sexuality as the deepest source of my creative energy, as a motor for my transformation. I take back the right to use this sexual motor to become a fully orgasmic human being, knowing that this is my door to sexual magic and the key to transforming my entire life” (Anand, 1995: 13).
One of the most beautiful aspects of the magical consciousness of sexual ecstasy is that it can be a portal to find answers, visualize personal goals, heal, and transform self and relationships. It is in this state that the past and future can melt away and all that is left is the present acting upon the future, creating the most ideal outcomes for events that have not yet come to fruition by planting seeds of ideas that can sprout and grow. Why does ecstasy have the potential to create these conditions? Because magic is made in a state of deep relaxation imbued with massive energy (Anand, 1995: 14-15).
Scientific research shows that lovemaking releases a number of biochemical substances in the brain, including serotonin and endorphins which cause the mind and body to relax, reduces pain and tension, and creates a state of profound well-being. In this state, the boundaries of energetic fields normally keeping two people distinct dissolves. The lover becomes lost in their beloved. The lover becomes one with another human being, all living things, the cosmos and the un-ending dance of all existence (16-17).
“It is in these moments of expanded consciousness that you can project a vision of your goal, your creation, into the harmonious fabric of the universe that surrounds you. In ecstasy, you come very close to the universal source, the creative womb out of which all things arise…Through special techniques of inner, alchemical transformation, you blend this orgasmic energy with your magical vision, rising to higher and higher levels of consciousness until you are able to release your vision into the cosmos. If done correctly, this alchemical process will manifest your vision in your life in a direct, specific, and powerful way” (Anand, 1995: 17).
Anand writes that the ritual of sexual magic works best in a supportive atmosphere that helps people birth their latent powers which means their powers that are just below the surface, but have not yet emerged. The ritual involves symbolic gestures, words, invocations, songs, movements, dances that call forth the sacred, the creation of a magic circle, invocation of certain energies, use of various clothing, and proximity to power objects. These actions open up the heart and mind and sharpen the senses. She writes that the symbol of the female sexual organ represents the essence of female power which is known as matrix power. Her womb has a secret, it is “the juicy, receptive, and creative force of the Universe” (56). Small items such as shells and crystals with cave-like structures represent this creative force.
Anand’s work inspired my track, Cosmic Feminine, here is an excerpt that can also be listened to below:
…Pass into the entrance
Where energy itself is alchemized
Draw that symbol and energy up the body tube
Make it the basis upon which
Any tapestry can be drawn
The She-Space where any seed of a soul's longing can be planted
In that dark leafy bush
Lies the path to concrete realization
And lovers in their potential
A way to its culmination
Stimulation of the clitoris
Orgasm
Releases serotonin and endorphins that enliven the state of the body and mind
Profound relaxation
It is a canvas to paint inspiration
It is a palette of color to drain stress of its color
It is a transport system for accessing joy and abundance
Time stops
Two bodies merge, skin kissing the yoni
Represent in physical form
A union of souls
That are, as Spirit, at all times, always One
This is the She-Space, where nothing is impossible
And all is possible in cosmic emergence
And more creative expression is actualized
Birthed from latent powers
Initiating the courageous
Encouraging thunderbolts to leap into formless waters
So that, in that electric bounding main
We may all come to know better what we are
I leave you with these lyrics and encourage you to start your own journey into sexual magic and the art of our sexuality.
